A Busy Day

Today is Friday and I am so tired. I was so busy today at work that all I want to do is to sleep. My job is to mark out fabric for dresses so that the material can be cut. It is a hard job and you have to think a lot. You have to use as much of the material as you can and waste as little as possible. Really it is a bit like a jigsaw puzzle. I get paid for each pattern that I do. I get one hundred baht for each pattern. If it is simple it might take me half an hour but if it is complicated it can take more than an hour. Then the material is given to a cutter and then it is sewn. Usually I do four or five patterns in a day. If I do four patterns in one day then I get four hundred baht which is quite a lot. It is very tiring and you have to concentrate a lot because if you make a mistake you have to rub it out and start again. I always turn my mobile phone off when I am working because I have to concentrate so much. Really it is a good job because I can work when I want to and my boss is really nice. He is an American and he has companies in Rome and in New York. He is very good to me and pays for any classes I want to take in design and business because he knows that one day I want to have my own design company.

He sent me to New York when I joined his company and I spent six months in Manhattan which was great. I went to a college there to and learned a lot about design. Then last year he sent me to his office in Milan, or Milano as the Italians call it. I think my boss likes me but only as a friend because really he is gay. A lot of people who work in the fashion industry are gay. But not me!

Today I am tired because I did seven patterns one after the other with only a twenty-minute break. I went to Tesco-Lotus in On Nut and had noodles in the food court there and then went straight back to work. Now my eyes hurt and I have a headache so I will go to sleep, I think. Seven patterns means seven hundred baht which is a lot but it is not the same as two thousand baht. I hope Anne will take me to Gullivers again tomorrow. I really want to buy an iPhone.
